Hpe Child Boards - Adapt your application


The Hpe Child boards are extensions to the Hpe®_midi system. They give you the possibility to customize the development system for your complete application.
We also develop child boards on customer request. Please ask for our Development Participation Program. If there are appropriate requirements we will
participate in the development costs.

Hpe_Connector Board - HC-CONN
HC-CONN is a connector board with two eSATA2-connectors, which are connected on LVDS signals, e.g. 1 Gbit for StratixII. Furthermore there is the possibility to plug in 5 * 20 pin. flat ribbon cables. (The connectors are not populated)


Connector / LED Board - HC-COLE
HC-COLE is a connector board for 5 * 20 pin flat ribbon cables. One of the connectors is at the end of the board and not populated, because a hole in the rear panel is required. If you order the HC-COLE together with your Hpe®_midi, you will get the populated connector and the modified rear panel for free. Every pin is connected to a LED which shows the logic level. You can activate respectively 20 LED's together with a jumper.

2 Channel Gbit Ethernet
The Hpe_child Board HC-ETH offer the developer 2 additional Ethernet connections for the Hpe system. Major component of the interfaces are two National DP83865. These are fully featured Physical Layer transceiver with integrated PMD sublayers to support 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX and 1000BASE-T Ethernet protocols. The DP83865 is an ultra low power version of the DP83861 and DP83891.

Hpe_child Board for PCI Express X4 external
The Hpe_child board HC-PCIe4 connects the Hpe®_midi with a PC or any other system via a standard PCI Express high speed link. The Hpe system uses this interface to connect SEmulator® and Logic Analyzer with a PC. At the heart of this interface is an ALTERA ArriaGX FPGA.

PC Board for PCI Express X4 external
The interface board HI-PCIe4 can be inserted in every X16 PCI Express slot in the PC. It connects the internal PCIe bus to the standard PCI Express X4 external connector. Since this interface board is not active, cable length is limited to two meters.

Bundle for PCI Express X4 external
The bundle contains the interface card HI-PCIe4, the child board HC-PCIe4 and a cable with a length of 2m. This is all you need for a high speed link between Hpe®_midi and a Host PC. We recommend using a Shuttle PC with internal graphic controller, since it offers the possibility to use the PCIe X16 graphic slot for the HI-PCIe4.

Hpe_SDRAM - HC-SDRAM-256
The HC-SDRAM256 is a standard child board. The module is organized 32Mbit * 64. The SDRAM module can be used for graphic and video applications where you need a SDRAM directly connected to the internal controller (independent from the CPU memory bus).

HC-DDR2, 1 Gigabyte
The HC-DDR2 provides 1 Gigabyte of DDR2 RAM. The DDR2 module can be used for memory-intensive graphic and video applications where you need high speed memory directly connected to the FPGA.



HC-NAND4
The HC-NAND4 child board is populated by four NAND- Flash memories. The Flash memories are organized as 1 Giga by 8 bit. Each memory is connected individually to the child board connector, so the user has independent access to the devices.
There are design variants using another NAND- Flash memories from different semiconductor vendors, different memory sizes and different memory organizations (SLC/MLC).


HC-FRMEM1
The HC-FRMEM child board contains two synchronous Flow Through NtRAMTM with Zero Turnaround between read- and write- cycles. Also there are two 256Mb NOR Flash Memories on the board. Both memory types share a common address- and a 32- bit data- bus. Memory organization for the RAM’s are 1Mx32 = 4Mbyte, the Flashes have 16Mx32 = 64Mbyte. Access times for the flashes are 70nSec, the RAM’s have a cycle time of up to 8.5nSec.

Hpe_Mesa - HC-MESA
This board connects 4 logic analyzer cables with 96 signals to a child board connector.
132 Pin Child Board Connector - HC-C132
The Hpe_child Board Connector is a small, high pin count Elastomer Connector. This connector system is used vey successful in many applications since 5 years. It gives us the flexibility to easily expand our Hpe development boards.
If you take the right connector layout you can transfer up to 5Gbit via the connector. (eye diagram)
These connectors are also used with our High-Speed Boards for PCI-Express, Rapid I/O, Gbit Ethernet etc. Do you need references, please ask us.
