Description
High Performance - High Speed - High End
|
The Hpe®_midi is a powerful and extremely versatile mother board that can be equipped with various modules containing one or two FPGA’s. It can be extended via child board connectors, that allow to interface to additional 4 Hpe_child boards. The special Elastomer connectors used at the interface between the motherboard and the modules allow for connections with very high frequencies and great pin numbers - with up to 132 pins for child board connectors and 364 pins for the module joint. With our newly developed Stratix 2 modules, a bandwidth of more than 1 Gbps can be achieved over the Elastomer connectors.
This board-as every member of the Hpe family-is highly compatible to the others. Thus, it can be used to easily upgrade from the Hpe-mini, if your demands rise as regards speed, area or functionality.
Our SEmulator is a new method for FPGA and ASIC development. Based on our former Hardware Accelerator and Cosimulator HAC2 we integrate this functionality in our Hpe®_midi. So we are able to control from the PC our development board via PCI Express over cable. This allow us to use a complete tool chain on the FPGA from the PC like JTAG I/O scan, Hardware Acceleration, Cosimulation, Assertion Compiler, Real time trace, control of clocks etc. You need only Hpe®_midi, our PCI Express interface and the SEmulator® software package.
By now, the Hpe concept has been successfully since 2002. It renders the development and the emulation of entire systems easy. To achieve that, the Hpe®_midi has been conceived withversatility and programmability in mind.
A so-called "clock factory" is responsible for supplying the board with on-board or external clocks according to the user's wishes. To get maximum frequencies as high as possible, much know-how has been invested in the development of the board. Through the use of the new ALTERA StratixII FPGA’s, it is possible to integrate as much as 360,000 logic elements, which roughly corresponds to 3.6 million ASIC gates. This number will be doubled, as soon as StratixIII® will be available. In order to be able to realize a convenient interface for user in- and outputs, there is a so called Human Interface on the board. It consists of a 4 * 3 key matrix, a 2-character 7-segment display, an 8-bit DIP switch, 8 LED’s and a LCD connector.
A wide range of software as well as a growing number of application examples allow for a fast implementation of your ideas.
When making your way from early single prototypes to mass products, we are glad to be able to offer you our experience all along. Our engineers will support you with their knowledge gained from many years of development and guarantee for the successful implementation of your concept. |
