KPA Studio EtherCAT With the help of a configuration and diagnostics tool KPA Studio EtherCAT a user creates EtherCAT Network Information file to configure the Master. This tool shows topology, allows tracing data, monitors the timing and triggers various events. The trial version of this tool can be downloaded from www.koenig-pa.com

KPA Master EtherCAT

KPA Master EtherCAT is a software stack with a layered structure.
  1. The operating systems abstraction layer (OSAL) is for adapting to various operating systems (OS).
    Adaptations for RTX, INtime, QNX, VxWorks, Ontime, PikeOS, xPCTarget and other members of Linux and
    Windows OS families are already available.
  2. The provided KPA Master EtherCAT Premium package outperforms the Standard package due to the additional
    functions, such as Hot Connect, cable redundancy and SoE (Servodrive profile over EtherCAT).
  3. The application layer allows a simultaneous remote connection of several clients such as KPA Studio
    EtherCAT. A powerful API provides with a wide set of commands and a possibility to write applications effectively.

The provided Master is a trial version of KPA Master EtherCAT Premium which allows up to 1 hour of work in Operational mode.
It is compiled for user space of Linux 2.6.29 RT 12 (latest OSADL’s stable release state January 2010).
Sources of SDK ensure the adaptation of OSAL to newer Linux kernels. Examples in source code are provided showing usage of:
  • interface to RPC Server;
  • network interface;
  • interface to synchronization and time objects (Mutexes and Timers);
  • control task creating a sawtooth signal at the output;
  • console application.
